Lived experience, community leadership, and practical advocacy are at the center of Father On The Move.

Our Story

Father On The Move grew from the experiences of fathers navigating multiple pressures at once: parenting, family relationships, housing, employment, financial stability, wellness, and public systems. These challenges rarely appear one at a time. The organization was founded to connect fathers with practical information, peer community, and organizations willing to listen and work together.

The movement is built around a simple principle: fathers should be meaningfully included in efforts to strengthen their children, their families, and their communities. That includes listening to lived experiences while checking policy questions against reliable information.

Our Mission

To help fathers remain present, stable, healthy, and meaningfully involved in their children’s lives through education, peer and community support, resource navigation, partnerships, and evidence-informed advocacy.

Our Vision

Communities where children and families benefit from safe, responsible, engaged fatherhood and where fathers can find accessible support, fair processes, and opportunities to contribute.

Meet the Founder: Anthony Henderson

Anthony Henderson founded Father On The Move as a father, community advocate, facilitator, and organizer. His approach connects direct conversations with fathers to practical programs, education, partnerships, and public-policy questions.

His community involvement includes fatherhood education and facilitation, family engagement, listening sessions, and speaking on father-centered community building. Rather than treating fatherhood as one isolated issue, he focuses on the connections between family relationships, health, stability, civic participation, and public systems.

In 2026, Father On The Move participated in community leadership conversations, including the Vital Village National Community Leadership Summit, and convened father-centered listening and program activities in partnership with local organizations.

  • Community listening sessions, including the September 2026 Urban Edge father listening session.
  • Fatherhood pilot programming and ongoing planning for future Codman Square sessions.
  • Workshops and conversations on belonging, wellness, resource access, relationships, and civic leadership.
  • Research and public education on Massachusetts family court processes, child support policy, and systems accountability.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Child and family well-being: Promote safety, stability, and meaningful relationships.
  • Respect and inclusion: Make space for fathers and families of different backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Practical help: Offer understandable information and connections to qualified resources.
  • Lived experience and evidence: Listen carefully, document responsibly, and distinguish research findings from advocacy positions.
  • Collaboration: Work constructively with fathers, service providers, community partners, and public institutions.
  • Accountability: Be transparent about what is confirmed, what is proposed, and what still needs investigation.

Our working approach: Support → Navigate → Learn → Build → Change.

Looking Ahead: Future Goals

Father On The Move is developing its next phase of community programming and partnership work. These are goals, not announcements of fully funded or scheduled services.

  • Expand healing circles, relationship conversations, and fatherhood education.
  • Develop the next Codman Square fatherhood pilot based on community feedback and partner capacity.
  • Build pathways connecting fathers to housing stability, employment, wellness, and family resources.
  • Create opportunities for father-led civic participation, research, and policy education.
  • Explore a future fathers-and-families summit, collaborative training, and financially sustainable programs.

Our Commitment to Responsible Advocacy

Father On The Move supports fair procedures, responsible research, transparent public information, and constructive systems improvement. It does not seek preferred outcomes in individual cases or provide legal representation. We distinguish verified findings from community experiences and recommendations for change.
